The Last Samurai

I guess I have kept you waiting long enough. Three months to be exact.

Well the costumes that helped us regain our title were....drumroll please....

The Last Samurai and his Geisha

I found a vintage Kimono from Japan on Etsy and I even bought the geta sandals. I wish I would have got a better picture of those. My back hurt after having them on for about 30 minutes! I also wish I would have taken a picture with my chinese rice hat. Can you believe that Chris and I made his costume the day of the party? Nothing like procrastination. It was a lot of fun making it though. We agreed that we should make our costumes every year. We went off of Tom Cruise's costume in The Last Samurai.
Here is a side by side for comparison...

Not too shabby, eh?

Here are few other party people...

The Scarecrow and Dorothy
Denny was crafting part of Alma's costume with us at our house...her red shoes. He glued all of the red glitter to her red flats. That is a dedicated husband right there since he was covered in glitter after he was done.

The Mexican and Border Patrol
Sorry your eyes are closed Mom. I still wanted to post the picture.

Geisha, The Mexican, and and a Roughneck
Cody and Rachel were hands down the warmest people at the party with their coveralls on. I had leggings and a long sleeve shirt on under my kimono and I was still freezing.

Annual Family Photo
Sandra and Eddie were a Biker and his Biker Babe and Lizzie was the Wicked Witch.

I made cupcakes for the party and no one wanted to eat them! I don't know if it's because they thought it looked like a lot of work to eat them or if they were just too cute to eat, not sure. I think it was probably the latter but I'm partial to them. I made two different kinds...worms crawling out of dirt and spiders made out of oreos and licorice for legs.

We had to leave early because Chris ended up feeling sick but all in all it was another fun party.

I promise not to be away so long next time.

Flappers and Barbies and Brides...OH MY!

Since Hallow's Eve was this weekend I thought it would be fun to have a little belated Costume Party...aKa a walk down memory lane of all the costumes Chris and I have worn.

Our First Halloween together...
Flapper and Gangster
2006
This is my favorite!
Costume Contest: WON!

Barbie and GI Joe
2007
Costume Contest: WON!
One or both of us look goofy in every picture from that year.
Since it's my blog, I picked a picture that I look sort of OK in.

Groupie and Slash
2008
Costume Contest: WON! (Mostly because Chris looked so rad!)
For actual Halloween we went to KISS 95 Halloween Bash and you would have thought that Chris was the real Slash. People were coming up to him to ask him if they could take a picture with him.
Case in point...

The Bride of Frankenstein
and the Monster himself
2009
Costume Contest: lost :(

Do you need a close up?
I can't believe we lost! The hair should have won the contest for us!
I loved my hair! I wish I could wear it like more often. My old stylist, Sara, came over and ratted part of my hair and then we ratted some extensions and piled them on my head. Chris' Franken teeth only lasted about 15 minutes. They fell out of his mouth and shattered when they hit the ground. Sad story.

I love dressing up for Halloween. Which costume is your favorite?

If the shoe fits...

I was at my Mom's house the other day with Max to show her some wedding stuff and noticed that she had a little rug with witch legs. It was perfect size for Max.
You know what that means... it was time for a little Halloween photoshoot.

This one is a little blurry but still hilarious.

I was laughing so hard I could barely hold my side of the rug up.

He is back to full health so he is back to his witchy ways.

And the winner is...

NOT US. :'(

Our "Best Couple Costume" reign is finally over. We won three years in a row. We were beat out by Wolverine and Jene from X-Men. As Chris said- the contest was between the two hairdo's. Mine and Wolverine's. I must say my hair was pretty rad, but Wolverine looked like the real thing! This year was the year to win- the prize was a free night at the Radisson on the Riverwalk.

We should have won based on the fact that I spent at least an hour trying to get all the rats out of my totally teased hair! No regrets- I loved it! I would wear my hair like that more often if I could get away with it.

Chris was totally decked out. I painted his face and neck green, painted is hair black, and stuffed his jacket with batting. He even had "bubba" teeth. I kept finding it all over the house and yard all night long. I would pick it up, go find him, and stuff it back in every time.

My Nana has some close ups on her camera so as soon as I get them I will post more pictures.

Thanks to:
*Nana for my AWESOME tutu, I need to think of somewhere else I can wear that thing. And my little garter.
*Darci for saving me by loaning me a white corset. Free 99 is always the best price.
*Sara for my totally rad hair.  I got a lot of compliments on it!
*Mom for finding me some silver shoes to go with the entire get up.

Now it's time to start thinking of a costume for next year. Any ideas?

Jack-o-Lantern!

We finally got around to carving our pumpkin...whew we only have 3 more days left in October. I'm sure I'll light it up through the beginning of November if it still looks good.

Happy Halloweenie

I was going to wait and put my Halloween decorations up after the Housewarming party, but I just couldn't contain myself. I put them out at about 11:30p on September 30th!

I love the little "spooky" and "beware" signs
I scored on the $2.50 rack at Target.

Batty Love Buttons flying in my mums.
The wings are on springs so they flap in the wind. Love it.

Sadly I can not find the rest of my rest of my Halloween decor. Who knows where to start...

What are you going to be for Halloween this year?
