Pencil Thin Moustache

For Christmas my mom wanted us all to get together and take a picture to give to our Nana & Grampy. Well this is what she got:

My Grampy thought it was hilarious. Chris did NOT want to take his off afterward. He is currently trying to grow his own. Macy put hers on the vanity mirror in my mom's car so when you look in it it looks like you have a mustache. Pretty funny.

Calling all UN-RETURNED RSVP's!

Soooo with the RSVP deadline only 12 days away were are getting pretty nervous...

Here are the stats...
Total invites sent: 124
Date sent: January 25, 2011 (20 days ago!)
Total RSVP's returned: 6 (a measly 5%)
Total RSVP's still out in the world: 118 (a WHOPPING 95%!!)

Needless to say- Chris and I are sweating a little bit. Our parents haven't even turned theirs in yet! Obviously we know they are coming but still...

SHOUT OUT TO MOM(S): SEND.US.YOUR.RSVP!

I know the deadline is still 12 days away but I really hope that we don't have to track down 95% of our guest list via phone to get their RSVP.

Note to self: Encourage all of your friends that get married in the future to send basic a RSVP card.
Mad Lib cards possibly create major delay.

Here are some that we got back:

P.S. If you are a reading this please send us your RSVP. We're not mad, just antsy!

Sneak Preview

My Aunt, which is also doubling as our florist for the wedding, brought a few samples to me this past weekend. I threw together a few arrangements after she left so my mom and I could enjoy the flowers at home and work. These are most of the flowers that we will be using at the wedding but I changed the picture to Black & White to keep some element of surprise. They will also be in different vessels. If you haven't already heard what those will be you will just have wait and see it Live in Living Color!

Mad Max G

I know everyone is on edge waiting for a Max update...

I look crazy pants in this picture!! I can't believe I'm posting it.
Excuse my turkey neck. You have to click the picture to make it bigger so you can see Max better. His face says it all..."whatcha lookin' at? Isn't this normal?" It's funny because everyone that comes up to us to tell us about their Doberman tell us that theirs does the same thing, climbs up on the sofa and relaxes like it's no big thing.

Chris and I can not sit down ANYWHERE without Max climbing in our lap, especially mine. I sometimes stand up to watch TV so I don't have 88 pounds sitting right on top of me. It actually cuts down on the time I waste watching TV so I guess I can't complain too much. This particular day I was not up for a fight over the chaise lounge so I gave in and left him cuddle up.

Speaking of the 88 L.B.'s...the vet told us for the second time that he is overweight.

Apparently he is supposed to be super skinny by his hind legs like this...
he definitely does NOT look like that right now.

We're working on it though. We've been walking in the evenings about 2.5 miles around our neighborhood. He likes it but whenever we walk past anyone they get as far away from him as possible because I guess they think he is going to bite their hand off. I feel so bad for him that he gets such a bad rap. If they only knew all he wants to do it love on you. Don't get me wrong, he has a really fierce bark and I'm sure bite. He just hasn't had to use the bite.

Ahh we just love him so much. My poor friends...whenever they tell stories about their kids I follow up with a story about Max. I finally apologized to one of them the other day for comparing their kid to my dog. Oops! I was reading House Rules by Jodi Picoult the other day and the narrator was talking about what changes when you have a baby and one of them was "the dog goes back to being just a dog" and it made me laugh. It made me think about how we baby him so much and buy him something like every other time we leave the house. Whatever, he is our furbaby.

The Griswald's

(you can click on picture to make it bigger)

Chris really did a great job this year with the Christmas lights at our house.
I LOVED THEM!
When I was growing up my Dad always put out Candy Cane sticks made out of plastic pipe and red electrical tape. Well this year I decided I needed some so Chris helped me cut them and then get them in the ground. I think this will be the last year I will be able to use my little penguin from Walgreen's. He is very wobbly and his arms always fall off, embarrassing for him. We even got them all taken down and put away on New Year's day. There are still about 4 houses in our neighborhood that still have their lights up. At least they don't turn them on...

The Last Samurai

I guess I have kept you waiting long enough. Three months to be exact.

Well the costumes that helped us regain our title were....drumroll please....

The Last Samurai and his Geisha

I found a vintage Kimono from Japan on Etsy and I even bought the geta sandals. I wish I would have got a better picture of those. My back hurt after having them on for about 30 minutes! I also wish I would have taken a picture with my chinese rice hat. Can you believe that Chris and I made his costume the day of the party? Nothing like procrastination. It was a lot of fun making it though. We agreed that we should make our costumes every year. We went off of Tom Cruise's costume in The Last Samurai.
Here is a side by side for comparison...

Not too shabby, eh?

Here are few other party people...

The Scarecrow and Dorothy
Denny was crafting part of Alma's costume with us at our house...her red shoes. He glued all of the red glitter to her red flats. That is a dedicated husband right there since he was covered in glitter after he was done.

The Mexican and Border Patrol
Sorry your eyes are closed Mom. I still wanted to post the picture.

Geisha, The Mexican, and and a Roughneck
Cody and Rachel were hands down the warmest people at the party with their coveralls on. I had leggings and a long sleeve shirt on under my kimono and I was still freezing.

Annual Family Photo
Sandra and Eddie were a Biker and his Biker Babe and Lizzie was the Wicked Witch.

I made cupcakes for the party and no one wanted to eat them! I don't know if it's because they thought it looked like a lot of work to eat them or if they were just too cute to eat, not sure. I think it was probably the latter but I'm partial to them. I made two different kinds...worms crawling out of dirt and spiders made out of oreos and licorice for legs.

We had to leave early because Chris ended up feeling sick but all in all it was another fun party.

I promise not to be away so long next time.
