The Last Samurai

I guess I have kept you waiting long enough. Three months to be exact.

Well the costumes that helped us regain our title were....drumroll please....

The Last Samurai and his Geisha

I found a vintage Kimono from Japan on Etsy and I even bought the geta sandals. I wish I would have got a better picture of those. My back hurt after having them on for about 30 minutes! I also wish I would have taken a picture with my chinese rice hat. Can you believe that Chris and I made his costume the day of the party? Nothing like procrastination. It was a lot of fun making it though. We agreed that we should make our costumes every year. We went off of Tom Cruise's costume in The Last Samurai.
Here is a side by side for comparison...

Not too shabby, eh?

Here are few other party people...

The Scarecrow and Dorothy
Denny was crafting part of Alma's costume with us at our house...her red shoes. He glued all of the red glitter to her red flats. That is a dedicated husband right there since he was covered in glitter after he was done.

The Mexican and Border Patrol
Sorry your eyes are closed Mom. I still wanted to post the picture.

Geisha, The Mexican, and and a Roughneck
Cody and Rachel were hands down the warmest people at the party with their coveralls on. I had leggings and a long sleeve shirt on under my kimono and I was still freezing.

Annual Family Photo
Sandra and Eddie were a Biker and his Biker Babe and Lizzie was the Wicked Witch.

I made cupcakes for the party and no one wanted to eat them! I don't know if it's because they thought it looked like a lot of work to eat them or if they were just too cute to eat, not sure. I think it was probably the latter but I'm partial to them. I made two different kinds...worms crawling out of dirt and spiders made out of oreos and licorice for legs.

We had to leave early because Chris ended up feeling sick but all in all it was another fun party.

I promise not to be away so long next time.
