Mad Max Nugget Giddens

16 weeks as of 7/21/10
36.8lbs on 7/19
I took him to the vet on 7/13 and he was only 32lbs.

In case you share my math skills I will break it down for you.
That is 4.8lbs in 6 days.
0.8 lbs a day, ALMOST a pound a day!

We have a chunky monkey.

Our little Max is growing up so fast...

I ♥ this picture! He used to love to sit in my lap in the truck

His new sofa. He loves it!
June 19, 2010

He likes to rest his head on the console when he doesn't get to ride in the front.

Resting on his new sofa.
June 19, 2010

He looked like and ALIEN! The vet wanted him to work his ear muscles.
Every time I look at this picture I crack up!
June 24, 2010

He lays like this every once in awhile on his sofa and it is super funny.
I'm glad I caught him in the act!

Max's Rat Pack
I bought him a stuffed rat at IKEA and he tore it up in one day!
June 30, 2010

*Funny side story about the rat. While I was at IKEA I decided I would look around for a cheap toy or two to take home to Max. I walked through the kid's section and noticed a huge bin of stuffed rats. I decided that it would be a funny toy for him. There were brown, gray, and black rats in the bin. I was holding the black and gray rat because I could not decide what color I wanted him to have (silly, I know- why does it even matter?) Remember I am standing in the kid's section- as I am standing there holding these rats trying to make my very difficult decision a lady walked by and gave me the biggest look of disgust I have EVER received! I finally figured out that she must have thought that I was horrible mother for buying my child a stuffed rat! It's pretty funny looking back at it. If only I could have told her it was or a dog. I would like to know why IKEA thought it was a good idea to sell stuffed rats to kids though...

This isn't Max- it's his brother Gauge. Isn't he sooo nice?
Max's ears will look like this one day. Gauge's just went a little quicker.

Max with his Peanut Butter filled Kong. His fave.
He gets PB on his sofa though and then tries to lick the sofa
July 15, 2010

He likes to lay in the kitchen with me while I cook.
July 15, 2010

Look how crazy he gets!! Look at his ferocious teeth!!
He only likes to bite Chris.
July 15, 2010

Well everyone...Max finally realized he is big enough to jump on OUR sofa! The first time he jumped up there he couldn't figure out what had happened so he started looking around and then Chris and I realized that we were in big trouble. Now he just likes to jump back and forth between the sofa and loveseat and Chris and I are just running around trying to get him off of one or the other.
Ay yi yi. What are we going to do?

The vet said that he will get his bandages off on Friday and will have them off over the weekend.
I will be sure to take a picture of him so that everyone can see what he looks like without his rainbow bandages. Did anyone notice that he has had a different color every week?

My Favorite Collector's Item

Need I say more?

I found this little gem at H&M in Seattle.
I decided to pass on this purchase because there were a few other items that I could NOT leave the store without. Plus- I don't know if I would have been brave enough to sport that on the street!

I guess I could have added it to my collection in the laundry room...

sweet tooth

I think I want (no I need) to have to a Dessert Bar at our Wedding.

I haven't mentioned this to Chris yet, but I know that he will have no argument on this subject because he loves all types of dessert. He does not discriminate. The more sugar, the better to him. Because of this we agreed that he would pick the flavor of the cake when we first started planning since he is such a Sweet Treat Connoisseur. Lookout, we may have a cake encrusted with sugar cubes along with maple syrup as the filling.

Anywhoo back to the dessert table...

I am suddenly obsessed with a Dessert Bar because we originally wanted to have a Candy Bar and decided that it wouldn't be very practical.

Reasons why it is a BAD idea to have a Candy Bar:
a) if I was at a wedding I would be too shy to go up to a candy bar and fill doggie bag up
b) candy is ridiculously expensive, even in bulk
c) we didn't really want 45 candy cracked out children running wild at our reception
       1. candy crack addicted children will ultimately spill candy on ground creating safety hazard and we DO NOT want a guest doing the funky chicken on the dance floor to slip and break their neck over spilt goobers

Reasons why it is a FANTABULOUS idea to have a Dessert Bar:
a) pretty much ALL of the women in my family HAVE to have something sweet after each savory meal. Even if it's just a bite. (OK, OK- me, my mom, and nana is all I know for sure- but I am trying to build my case here people)
b) everyone likes a little variety, duh
c) we can have sweets from our childhood that we loved then and still love now (Grandma Morphis' Cake Brownies/Nana's Pecan Pie minus the pecans, just the gooey center)
d) who needs more reasons? I vote yes- isn't that a majority vote?

So- here is what I propose to serve on the dessert menu (I still need to get Chris' suggestions):
  • Strawberry Cupcakes with Cream Cheese Icing
  • Mini Pecan Pies
  • Chocolate Whoopie Pies with Peanut Butter filling
  • Sugar Cookies (plain but oh-so-good)
  • Mini Apple Pies
  • Chocolate Chip Cookies
  • Reese's PB Cup Cookies (Nana's Recipe)
  • Mini Cherry Pies
  • Pie Pops
As you can see there a few different varieties of pie so this list will probably change at least 25x before the day actually rolls around so don't be too disappointed if you the item you really want is not laying on the table waiting for you to devour it. Just fair warning.

What would you like to munch on off of the Dessert Bar? I'd love suggestions.

can you believe this?

One of Chris' coworker's "Mama" (his gf but he refers to her as Mama) has a garden and has been sending stuff for us. We got a cantaloupe last Friday and this Friday we got 2 tomatoes (YUM!) and this gi-gan-tour cucumber. We'll be eating this for daysss.

I look super goofy in this picture because Landon walked up as I was making Chris take it and I realized how ridiculous I was being. Therefore we have the crazed face...

I wanted everyone to know that I was NOT exaggerating the size of this monster!
Longer than my forearm.

Chris insists that now we owe them a cake so I guess that's what I'll be doing on Sunday!

Hope you enjoyed this ridiculous post and the even more ridiculous picture to go with it.

no.1 sweet as sugar

After reading some inspiration from abeautifulmess I decided I wanted to have regular feature Friday.

Every Friday I am going to post fun/delightful/fancy/inspiring/witty things that I stumble upon

  • Since I can't seem to find an old school flip clock this screensaver will just have to do.

  • I'm trying to figure out where I can hang these super cute and handy deep pocket floating shelves but all I can come up with is the bathroom...so I'm thinking I will hold off on them.

  • Does anyone recognize these bee-u-tee-mous b-maids dresses?

mini girl's roadtrip

this past weekend Mom, Macy, Rachel, and I went to Bastrop to get our hair done by Court.

Courtney made us take an after picture.

Poor Courtney worked so hard to blow out me and Macy's hair and then we just put it in a ponytail.
It was unbelievably hot outside and I couldn't take it anymore, so I unfortunately just had to look crazy in the picture

Pretty soon I will need to go back for Wedding Hair Trial...

I'm liking these two styles right now.
Not sure what I'll go with, good thing I have eleventy-billion days figure it out.

tar-jay addicts anonymous

If you frequent the local target you HAVE to read this post from Harper's Happenings!

I could never put into words my obsession with the red and white as eloquently as the author of this post has.

It will make you laugh and most likely agree 100%!

*thanks Rachel for sharing this with me.
